Yes, and these will be resized and printed on the A sized paper of your choice, with white borders above/below or left/right. You will be able to see what the finished document will look like in the previewer after uploading.
Custom sized document printing is something we will introduce very soon. Sign up to the email list below to be first to know when this service is available.
If you can upload your document but are not being directed to a page where you can select the binding and printing options, then it is possible that it's a browser or session issue. As a first resort, please try clearing the cache or browser history, or reboot your computer. If you still experience any problems, then please contact us.
Yes, we do have a limit of 500MB. However, on occasion you may experience problems uploading files that are smaller than this if your internet connection is either slow or slightly intermittent. In this case (or if your file is larger than 500MB) please contact us and we shall provide you with an alternative method of transferring your files to Doxdirect.
Doxdirect is compatible with iOS, Android and other mobile devices. You can use your phone's file manager or iCloud to upload files, as well as file storage apps including Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft One Drive. You can upload documents from any number of these locations when placing your order.
The file types you can upload are the same as on the desktop website: PDF, Word, PowerPoint, JPG and PNG.

If you have the 2007 or later editions of Microsoft Office you will have the option of saving your completed Word document, PowerPoint presentation or Excel spreadsheet as a PDF file. Just click on 'File' and 'Save As', and PDF will appear as one of the options. If you have an older version of Microsoft Office this option may not be available, although you may have the option to click 'File' and 'Export' to create a PDF file.
Alternatively, although the Adobe Acrobat program is not free of charge, there are several free PDF converters available on the internet. If you search online for convert Word to PDF / convert PowerPoint to PDF / convert Excel to PDF you will find a list of options.
Please note: Doxdirect has no connection with or responsibility for external sites. We are simply providing information on where and how you may be able to obtain software to enable you to convert any of your documents to a PDF format.
Sometimes if you save your Word, Powerpoint or Excel document as a PDF it may become corrupted. If you experience this problem, please try uploading the original Word or Powerpoint document to our website (Excel files must be converted to PDF). If an error still occurs, then please contact us for further help.
We recommend preparing in advance three PDF files: One with the inside pages of your book (with the first page being a 'right hand' page if created with InDesign, Quark Xpress or similar desktop publishing software), a second with your front cover and a third with your back cover (at the size you wish your book to be, without 'bleed' or crop/trim marks).
You should upload the PDF with the inside pages of your book during the ordering process as normal, and then add your front and back covers when you arrive at the Cover Designer. You can also create a spine for your book using this tool.

To get the best out of the cover designer we recommend you update to the latest version of your internet browser. The cover designer functions well on Internet Explorer versions 10 and above, as well as on Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple Safari. If you are still encountering problems, then please either delete your browser history or try rebooting your computer.

For A5 and A4 ring binders, you can upload a portrait or landscape document and choose to bind it on the long or short edge. This gives four options; portrait document bound at the left (long edge - pages turn from the right) or bound at the top (short edge - pages turn from the bottom); landscape document bound at the left (short edge - pages turn from the right) or bound at the top (long edge - pages turn from the bottom). You can choose 2-hole punching for the most economical solution, or 4-hole punching for the most sturdy solution.
A5 ring binders can be hole-punched with either 2 or 4 holes. If you choose the 2-hole option, they will be spaced 80mm apart and centred on the page. If you choose the 4-hole option the middle two holes will be spaced 65mm apart, centred on the page, with 45mm between these and the top/bottom holes. Holes are punched 10mm from the binding edge for both options.
A4 ring binders can also be hole-punched with either 2 or 4 holes. For both options, holes are spaced 80mm apart and 10mm from the binding edge.
This is a binding type for a document of multiple pages which is folded in half and stapled in the middle to form a booklet. The pages of the document for this binding type must be divisible by four. An example of a saddle stitched booklet is shown below.
We offer a 'Same day production' option, which means that we will process and produce your order on the same day if we receive it before 11am.
Exceptions to this are orders for hardback and paperback books, which need an additional 1 day production time before despatch.
If you require the fastest possible service, we recommend that you order before 11am and choose 'Same day production' plus a Courier delivery option to receive your order the next day.
Our standard service is to produce your order in 2 working days from the day of your order. For example, if you order on a Tuesday, then your order will be produced Tuesday/Wednesday and despatched on Thursday. If you order on a Saturday, then your order will be produced Monday/Tuesday and despatched on Wednesday. Exceptions to this are orders for hardback and paperback books which need an additional 1 day production time for despatch.
Note: Delivery time is in addition to Production time, and our standard delivery service is Free UK Royal Mail 1st Class. Although Royal Mail aim to deliver within 1 day of the despatch date, they do not guarantee this (and therefore we cannot guarantee the deliver timescale for this option).
We only process orders on weekdays, not at weekends or over public holidays. So if you place your order on a Saturday it will be processed as though it has been placed on the following Monday.
You can place an order on the website throughout the Christmas and New Year period. We cannot produce, despatch or deliver orders on 25th/26th December and 1st January (plus substitute bank holidays in years when Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day fall on a weekend).
Actual despatch and delivery dates are shown in the Price Calculator before you order (estimated for Royal Mail, guaranteed for courier).
This is possible by ordering before 11am and choosing 'Same day production' along with one of our Courier delivery options. There are also timed Courier options available if you need it by a certain time that day (pre-9am, pre-10.30, pre-midday).
