Printed products at Doxdirect

Doxdirect provides an online printing service for many types of document. Whether you are a business or an individual, the Doxdirect online document printing service can provide a cost-effective and efficient solution for printing and binding documents online.

At Doxdirect we can print from Adobe PDF files, or from Word and Powerpoint documents. The service is easy to use and you can customise the printing and binding of your documents by selecting from a wide range of options. You can also design the outer cover of paperback or hardback books using the Doxdirect Cover Design Tool.

Document bindings

Here is a brief summary of the types of bindings available online at Doxdirect. More detailed information and product specifications can be found by clicking on the product icons at the foot of the page:

• Spiral binding (also known as wiro bound or wire binding)

  This is the most commonly used type of binding for documents such as training manuals, reports or presentations and gives your document a clean and professional image. Various cover options binding colours are available. The maximum number of pages that will fit into a spiral binding are 350 leaves or 700 printed sides. • Ring binding

  A ring binder is the ideal type of binding for a large number of pages. Doxdirect offers ring binders in a range of sizes from 25mm to 65mm spine width. The size of ring binder is automatically calculated depending on the size of your document. For example, a 25mm ring binder will hold a maximum of 375 leaves or 750 printed sides of paper. The largest 65mm ring binder can hold 600 leaves or 1200 printed sides.

  Ring binders are supplied as white PVC presentation binders as standard, the front cover of which can be customised. You may also add printed tabbed inserts as required. • Hardback book binding

  The maximum number of pages that can be bound as a hardback book are 350 leaves or 700 printed sides using standard 100gsm paper for colour printing, and 390 leaves or 780 printed sides using standard 90gsm paper for black and white printing. At Doxdirect you have the option of designing a bespoke outer cover for your book using the Cover Design Tool. You may either select from a range of standard cover templates or upload and insert your own cover design or pictures and also add in titles to the cover and spine. Outer covers are laminated with a gloss finish as standard to give a durable finish. • Paperback book binding

  Paperback books are printed and bound using a thick card for the cover as standard. As for hardback books, you may design your own cover and insert titles using the Cover Design Tool. The maximum number of pages that can be bound as a paperback book are 350 leaves or 700 printed sides using standard 100gsm paper for colour printing, and 390 leaves or 780 printed sides using standard 90gsm paper for black and white printing. • Tape binding

  Tape binding has a similar appearance to paperback binding but the binding process is slightly different. The spine of the book is bound with a canvas tape attached to the front and back outer covers rather than by a wrap-around paperback cover. The outer covers are 250gsm card as standard. The maximum number of pages that can be tape bound are 350 leaves or 700 printed sides using the standard 100gsm paper for colour printing, and 390 leaves or 780 printed sides using the standard 90gsm paper for black and white printing. • Stapled or saddle-stitched

  We offer two methods of stapling. The simplest method is stapling in the top left-hand corner. The maximum number of pages that can be stapled in this manner are 100 leaves or 220 printed sides. The alternative is saddle-stitching, whereby pages are stapled together down the centre fold to form a booklet. Saddle-stitched booklets are supplied with a 250gsm outer cover as standard. Unbound documents and large formats

Doxdirect can print any Adobe PDF, Word or Powerpoint document in black and white or colour and it does not have to be bound. A4 and A5 documents can be printed on a variety of paper qualities and weights, and A0 to A3 sizes can be printed on 170gsm paper as standard. Prices for printing and binding

• Spiral binding (wiro bound) prices:

  A 50 page A4 black and white document bound with a clear acetate outer cover and shipped using our standard delivery option within the UK (despatched within 2 working days) costs £8.85. In full colour this would be £17.77. 25 copies of the same document in black and white would cost only £6.82 each including despatch by courier.

• Ring binding prices:

  100 double sided A4 pages printed in black and white, punched with holes for filing and supplied in a white presentation ring binder, including standard delivery within the UK (despatched within 2 business days) would cost £13.96. 25 copies of the same ring binder would cost only £10.31 including despatch by courier.

• Paperback binding prices:

  A 100 page A4 book, printed in black and white, double sided, bound with a soft outer paperback cover with gloss lamination and shipped using our standard delivery option within the UK (despatched within 2 business days) costs just £17.96. 50 copies of the same book would cost only £14.10 each.

• Hardback binding prices:

  A 100 page A5 hardback book, printed double sided in black and white and shipped using our standard delivery option within the UK (despatched within 2 business days) costs £18.99. 25 copies of the same hardback book would cost only £15.19 each.

Paper quality

At Doxdirect there is a wide range of paper qualities to choose from. You may select the paper weight you require from the dropdown list on the printing configuration page (some restrictions depending on the product selected may apply). The standard quality of paper for black and white is 90gsm white bond and for full colour 100gsm silk. Covers for wiro-bound documents, paperback books and tape bound books are printed on 250gsm card as standard.
